Operation Wrap

Operation Wrap has historically been a Journey-sponsored event which:  1) invites ALL parishioners to purchase a toy or 2 for children ages 1-14.  Toys are accepted from the Sunday after Thanksgiving until the 2nd Sunday in December.  High School parishioners sort all the toys on that Sunday into 5 or 6 age groups.  The next day, Monday, all Journey members are expected to attend a single session at 4:30 that afternoon to wrap all the toys that have been donated.  (Monday evening and Thursday afternoon students are also expected to attend.)

Sgt. Maurice Taylor, of the Cook County Sheriff's Dept., joins us for the afternoon (usually bringing a friend or two).  As toys are ready, his vehicle is loaded with the wrapped toys.  He speaks with our kids about where the toys will end up...several pediatric wards of city hospitals, women's/family shelters, and some foster group homes.
