Sr. Elizabeth Crotty
Sr. Elizabeth Crotty, I.B.V.M.
Director of Religious Education
Sister Elizabeth has been
ministering at SMMP since 1990. As Director of Religious Education, she
is responsible for the early faith formation of the children of the
parish from 3 year olds through 5th grade. The Religious Education
Program includes approximately 800 children as well as 160 Catechists
and more than 50 other volunteers in the program. Besides weekly
classes, Sister is responsible for the Sacramental programs for both
Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist. Sister also is responsible for and
acts as a resource for the coordinators of our other
children’s programs : Vacation Bible School, Liturgy of the
Word, and Children’s Masses.
Prior to coming to SMMP, Sister Elizabeth was a teacher, principal, director of Religious Education, service commission director and
pastoral care minister. SMMP provides an opportunity to do the work she
loves best- working with children and their parents.
Sister Elizabeth is a member of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary ( Provincial House - Loretto Convent in Wheaton) and presently
serves as a Provincial Counselor to her community.
Sister has an MA in Religious Education and a Certificate in Pastoral Ministry and numerous post-graduate Theology credits.
Although Sister is at SMMP six days a week she does take time to relax by reading mysteries, doing crossword puzzles, Suduko, and even a few
computer games and spending time with her family, friends and the Sisters of her religious community.
