Sr. Madelyn Gould
Sr. Madelyn Gould, S.S.S.F.
Pastoral Associate
Sr. Madelyn joined the SMM staff in 1983. Prior to coming to this parish, Sr. Madelyn ministered as an
elementary school teacher for seven years and as a Director of Religious Education for 13 years. "Both
these positions created in me a strong desire to work with adults. I came to see clearly that a child’s
faith is primarily caught from one’s parents. If the adult’s faith is a living faith, the children
usually turn out fine," says Sr. Madelyn.
Sr. Madelyn, working with several committees of parishioners, is responsible for Morning and Evening Enrichment
programs, Business Breakfasts, Bible Study, RCIA, Threads, the Christ Renews His Parish Retreats, the Parish
Mission and other parish retreats. She acts as consultant to the Pastoral Council and co-authored the Renew
2000: Proclaiming Jubilee books. Sr. Madelyn also serves as Spiritual Director for many individuals
and serves on the Board of Directors of Mayslake Ministries in Westmont.. A member of the School Sisters
of St. Francis, Madelyn was the chairperson of their Spiritual Growth Committee (1996-2006).
Sr. Madelyn holds advanced degrees in Religious Education (Fordham University), Theology (St. Bonaventure
University), and Spirituality (Catholic Theological Union). She enjoys nature, walking, biking, the arts
and travel. Most of all she desires that all adults will fan into flame the gift of faith that is within
them!
